Dear guest,

Please take your time when ordering your wine because so did we when selecting our wines to come to this wine list. To us wine is very important that is why we called our restaurant after the local grape variety “El Moscatel”. We started our first restaurant “La Mani” in July 2004 in the centre of Sabinillas with a limited wine list. Over the years we have worked towards the current list which now contains over 70 references and is more suitable for this restaurant “El Moscatel” which we opened in May 2007. We continue to evolve the list by constantly adding new wines to our range and replacing wines that are no longer interesting. In order to serve our wines at the perfect temperature and humidity we have invested in special wine cabinets which keep the white and rosé wines around 6 degrees Celsius and the red wines between 16 and 18 degrees Celsius. Now even in the hot Andalucian summer the red wines can be served at the right “room” temperature.

We like to offer something different, exclusive and where possible local, whether it comes to food or wine. We focus mostly on Spanish wines that are from small Bodegas (wineries) and unknown Denominations of Origin (wine regions), with a particular focus on local wines from Andalucia, which ensure a good value or an interesting difference. This also means that most of our wines cannot be found in supermarkets because we get them either directly from the Bodega or from one of our many wine suppliers. However if you particularly like a wine, we sell all our wines for a special take away price should you wish to buy some to take home. Ask for our take away pricelist if you are interested. Due to many requests we are now also bottling the Manilva sweet local wine which makes an original gift or souvenir. You can buy a bottle of this “Dulce Moscatel” for 9.5 €.

At university, where we met and both studied Hotel Management we have learned the basics of wine, winemaking and tasting. But due to Mark’s membership of a student wine society he has been travelling along the big wine regions in France and build-up a solid knowledge of winemaking and tradition which were tested in several international student sommelier competitions over the years. After and during our study we both have been travelling a lot and visited several wineries of which some wines can now be found on our wine list but above all we tasted a lot of wine to nourish our knowledge. Unfortunately we now have less time to travel however as we like to stay knowledgeable about our product we visit several wine fairs a year and we keep tasting wines from different regions. We select the most interesting wines as our recommended wine, which you can find together with some information on your table. In this way we and you keep learning.

To make it easier for you to select the right wine, you will see that we have divided the wines into different taste categories (e.g. light and fruity) and used the following symbols to identify
special wines:
